Djinda Falcons - Get involved!

INDIGENOUS YOUTH FOOTBALL AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

A football program for boys and girls aged 10 to 17 years, Djinda provides quality coaching within a safe and positive environment along with facilitating the delivery of diverse educational activities and fun events.

We are using football as the icebreaker, the vehicle to make a difference in the boy’s and girl’s lives and our community.

The Djinda program consists of AFL year round training sessions, with the boys and girls having access to quality WAFL facilities. Coached by current development squad coaches and identified coaching leaders, with involvement from football greats including retired WPFC superstar Bill Dempsey.

Seminar talks from Aboriginal mentors, cultural awareness, dietary requirements, life skills, being part of a team, pride, self-respect, strong ethos on being solid young men and women, and so much more.

PROGRAM GOALS

  • Develop a community centred football program with the developing “mateship” among local aboriginal youth and their families
  • Develop community partnerships with local clubs, community groups, agencies and local government to guide and support the program.
  • Djinda program is taken to the remote country areas as a football clinic and finding local mentors to come on board to access our vast range of resources.
  • Give our boys the football and life skills they need to progress from developments squads to WAFL careers and the AFL and secure good jobs
  • Setup support systems for families and partners of players through counselling  and guidance sessions with our Aboriginal Program Coordinator

Offer training and job opportunities at the West Perth Football Club, program partners and the football industry
