Falcons never in the hunt

Tuesday, August 14, 2018 - 10:23 AM

By Darrell Kent

You only have to be off your game a little against the ladder leading Subiaco to not have a good day. This was the case at Arena Joondalup on Saturday when the Lions dominated from the outset and eventually ran out forty seven point winners. West Perth tried hard but lacked the polish of the visitors and as a result struggled to hit the scoreboard, only scoring three majors in the first three quarters.

Falcons fall just short - Darrell Kent

Monday, August 6, 2018 - 10:23 AM

By Darrell Kent

It would be fair to say that it was a cold and miserable day at Fremantle Oval on Saturday and this was reinforced by the narrow five point loss suffered by the Falcons. It was West Perth’s first defeat after having won their last three games. The highlight of the day for Falcons supporters was the 200th West Perth WAFL appearance by big man, Chris Keunen. This is a tremendous achievement and one that he and his family can be proud of. He battled hard all day and contributed strongly to the West Perth effort.

WEST Perth continued its impressive form dominating Swan Districts to win by 90 points at Joondalup Arena on Saturday to improve to second position on the WAFL ladder after 16 rounds.
West Perth and Swan Districts have become fascinating WAFL rivals over the past 15 years, but Saturday at Joondalup Arena wasn’t another chapter in that with the Falcons continuing their impressive form and Swans continuing to struggle.
The Falcons delivered a dominant performance at home to Swans on Saturday to record their second win against the black-and-whites in 2018 on the back of losing last year's elimination final at Steel Blue Oval. Read More ...

West Perth and Swan Districts lock horns at Joondalup Arena on Saturday in a contest crucial to both with the Falcons trying to further consolidate third position and stay in touch of second while Swans just need to find a way to snap a losing run and keep their finals hopes alive.

West Perth had the bye last weekend and comes into the Round 16 contest in third position on the WAFL ladder with an 8-5 record to be just a game behind the second placed South Fremantle and two ahead of the fourth placed Perth.

A Luncheon in Memory of Carol Bick - 28 July

Friday, July 20, 2018 - 11:27 AM

Carol Bick was the Mum of the West Perth Football Club for the best part of 40 years. If you played for West Perth you were, and would always be, one of ‘her boys.’

From the time the club moved to Joondalup, she sat in the same seat in our grandstand right above the player’s race. At every home game she would be cheering for “her boys” from the time the colts started at 9am until the league team left the field at 5pm. She made it her business to know every player who took the field in every grade, because it meant a lot to her to make each of them feel important. However, where she sat in the grandstand was exposed to the elements. When asked why she sat there, she said that she wanted the sight of her applauding them to be the last thing the players saw, win or lose, as they left the ground. She wanted them to know they had her unconditional support.
