WEST Perth delivered another impressive performance hammering East Fremantle by 88 points at Joondalup Arena on Saturday with Andrew Strijk delivering a career-best effort but his act was far from a lone hand.
The WAFL resumed on Saturday following the State game break which saw Western Australia beat South Australia in Adelaide for the first time in 24 years.
The Falcons had been in good form prior to the break winning two consecutive matches and then putting in the most competitive showing anyone has managed against Subiaco to date so they had every reason to be confident ahead of hosting the Sharks. Read More ...

WEST Perth is back to Joondalup Arena for the first time in five weeks on Saturday to take on the struggling East Fremantle as the Falcons search for their first win of the 2018 WAFL season.

The WAFL resumes this weekend following the break for the State game and West Perth and East Fremantle couldn’t have been in more differing form prior to the general bye.

West Perth might have lost its last game to Subiaco, but the 22-point defeat marked by far the best performance any side has been able to produce against the Lions this season and the Falcons even managed to lead for the majority of the opening half.

And prior to that, West Perth was in good form coming off a 31-point victory against Swan Districts and then a comfortable 62-point win against Perth.

WEST Perth's four representatives in Saturday's State Game win for the WAFL over the SANFL at Adelaide Oval took their combined appearances in the Black Swans jumper to 19 and all played a key role in the 26-point victory.
Shane Nelson, Andrew Strijk, Luke Meadows and Aaron Black were all among the best players on the field as they did West Perth proud and played big roles in the eventual win over South Australia that was Western Australia's first win in Adelaide since 1994.
Nelson was playing his fourth game representing the WAFL and the triple Breckler Medal winner continued his remarkable form to start the 2018 season with the Falcons. He finished with another 30 possessions, 11 tackles, four marks and four inside-50 entries. Read More ...

WEST Perth's Aaron Black, Andrew Strijk, Shane Nelson and Luke Meadows will all form crucial parts of the WAFL State Team against the SANFL at Adelaide Oval on Saturday.

The four Falcons players have previously represented Western Australia a combined 15 times and they will once again all play significant roles as the WAFL tries to score a first win against South Australia in Adelaide since 1994.

Strijk has previously played six games for WA as part of his 214-game WAFL career that includes a premiership and fairest and best award with the Falcons. He is in tremendous form in 2018 as well whether playing off half-back or in attack.

WEST Perth came out ready to challenge Subiaco and the Falcons started brightly and gave the Lions their sternest test of the 2018 WAFL season to date, but ultimately the undefeated league-leaders won by 22 points on Saturday at Leederville Oval.
Subiaco had taken all before it over its opening four games before a bye in Round 5 beating East Perth, South Fremantle, Swan Districts and Claremont by an average of 89.5 points.
That meant it was a daunting challenging for West Perth heading to Leederville Oval on Saturday taking on a Subiaco team who hadn’t played since beating Claremont by 86 points 16 days previous. Read More ...

WEST Perth didn’t come away with a victory against Subiaco on Saturday at Leederville Oval but they certainly gave the hosts plenty to think about.

Up to this match the Lions had won all four games by an average margin of nearly 90 points. This certainly wasn’t the case against the Falcons who led for most of the first half before going down by 22 points.

Subiaco has been the form team of the competition for a number of years and their form this year has been as good as ever and as a result they were short priced favourites on the weekend. The Lions hit the scoreboard first with a behind before a clever handball by Rudy Riddoch enabled Tyler Keitel to kick the first of his two goals from the square.

WEST Perth has delivered two impressive wins against Swan Districts and Perth over the last fortnight to gear up for this Saturday's challenge against the rampant Subiaco at Leederville Oval.

Subiaco couldn’t have possibly been any more dominant in the opening four rounds of the season before the bye last week winning the four matches by an average of 89.5 points to remain the only undefeated team left in the competition.

The Lions have now had the week off to freshen up to get ready for West Perth at Leederville Oval on Saturday.

WEST Perth players have formed a big part of the success of the WAFL State team in recent years and that looks set to continue next Saturday against South Australia with Andrew Strijk, Aaron Black, Shane Nelson and Luke Meadows all named in the 33-man squad.

Between Strijk, Nelson, Black and Meadows, they have racked up 15 previous appearances representing the WAFL and it's hard to see all four of them not being there again next Saturday as the West Australian team takes on the SANFL at Adelaide Oval.

The WAFL State team has been on a tremendous run in State matches in recent years with the winning streak beginning in 2013 against the VFL in Northam.

WEST Perth has continued its dominance of Perth with a strong first half on the way to a comfortable 62-point victory against the Demons at Lathlain Park on Saturday.
It was a dominant first half by West Perth with the Falcons doing as they pleased with the turnovers and lack of ability to hit targets, hold chest marks or handle the ball cleanly causing havoc for the Demons.
The Falcons took full advantage to lead by 53 points at half-time and the second half didn’t reach any great heights for either side in warm conditions, but West Perth cruised to the 17.11 (113) to 6.15 (51) victory.

TYLER Keitel has had two equally outstanding seasons the past two years with West Perth as a defender in 2016 and forward in 2017, but he's happy to have now settled into attack and a premiership with the Falcons is much more his priority than a potential AFL future.

Keitel had a promising junior career and that meant it created quite a stir between the bitterest of WAFL rivals when he wanted to switch from East Perth to West Perth without having yet made his league debut with the Royals.

That meant that he had a slow start to his 2015 season and never really got going, but the improvement and development of the 22-year-old has been rapid since.
