Steve Chapman Re-Signs as Colts Coach Until 2027

Author: West Perth FC

The West Perth Football Club is delighted to confirm that Colts Head Coach Steve Chapman has re-signed for a further two seasons, ensuring his continued leadership of the Club’s Talent Pathway Program until at least the end of the 2027 season.

Affectionately known as ‘Chappy’, Steve is a true Falcon through and through — having once pulled on the jumper himself as a Colts player before dedicating years to developing the next generation of West Perth talent.

After serving diligently across various roles within the Club’s Talent Pathway, Chappy was appointed Colts Head Coach for the 2024 season, where he immediately made an impact, steering the team to a finals appearance in his debut year at the helm.

The 2025 season has continued to build on that success, with West Perth’s development program thriving. A number of draftable prospects have proudly represented Western Australia, while multiple players have earned opportunities within the senior program, fast-tracking their growth and enhancing the Club’s future depth.

West Perth Head of Female Football & Talent Pathways (Male) (Luke Richardson) spoke highly of the re-signing:

“Chappy is the heart of our pathway. Coaching our entry-point 12s Falcons Nest Academies and our colts. He embodies what it means to be a Falcon — committed, selfless, and passionate about player development. His leadership has created an environment where young players are not only learning the game but flourishing as people.”

Steve Chapman shared his excitement about the extension:

“It’s an absolute honour to continue to coach the Colts at the Club I’ve loved for so long. We’ve got a fantastic group of young men coming through and a really committed staff supporting them. I’m excited to keep pushing our standards and preparing these boys for senior football and beyond.”

The Club looks forward to continued progress and success under Chappy’s guidance, as the Falcons Talent Pathway remains one of the most exciting in the WAFL system having made finals every year since 2019.
