WAFL Round 7 Match Report
A solid performance from our Seniors over the weekend, resulted in our first win at home for the season, with our new big kahuna scoreboard in action.
With Tyler Keitel on fire in the first, with three snaggers, the boys looked on top of their game early, which proved to be the case over the duration of the game, running away with a 57 point victory in challenging conditions. We find ourselves in a similar spot to this stage of the 2024 season with a 3-4 record, but we’re determined to turn the lessons and growth from last year into results on the field.
The WA Day Derby vs East Perth shapes as another critical match for us to stay in touch for finals, our last victory on WA Day at Leederville was round 9 2021, by 43 points. The 1995, 30-year premiership reunion is taking place at Leederville on game day this coming Monday, which is very fitting, and a great opportunity for all grades to chase wins in front of John Dimmer & the 95 premiership team members.

WAFLW Round 8 Match Report
The Falcons descended upon Mineral Resources park for two days of football in wet & windy conditions.
Saturday Night, our WAFLW side were hosted by the Demons in what was a high-octane contest that showcased both the Demons’ exponential growth in their first year of the competition, with the Falcons grit, determination and resilience on display to secure victory from the jaws of defeat in a comeback for the ages.
Pocket-rocket forward, Jamarah Woods has again, been the spark needed to shift our fortunes with a crucial crumbing goal to shift the games momentum – All stemming from a magnificent, contested mark from young-gun and 2024 Rogers Cup premiership Captain, Hayley Bidefeld.
Perth’s own Fina Dethlefsen & Isabella Shannon were fantastic across the ground with the Falcons, at times, struggling to neutralise their influence.
It was not the Falcons best performance of the year, with Perth’s pressure and movement proving extensive – BUT, good sides find ways to win and the Falcons got to sing their song under lights from never giving in, even to the final seconds.
West Perth 8.8 56 def Perth 8.3 (51)
The Demons then hosted our Rogers Cup Youthies on the Sunday morning in weather which mimicked cyclonic conditions.
With Grippo’ in hand (literally), our Youthies battled hard with sling-shot football on full display.
The first-half was an arm-wrestle with either side able to break the shackles of the other in a low scoring affair. Q3 saw the Falcons put their foot down, stemming from aggressive ball movement from under-aged gun, Arybella Nelson out of D50. Sienna Hay, judged best afield was electric with ball in hand and at times, didn’t seem to be impacted by the rain.
The healthy lead leading into Q4 was slowly chipped away by Perth with a 50m penalty awarded securing a much needed goal for the Demons to put a win within reach.
The Youthies stoppage work to slow the clock was second-to-none and walked away singing their song after a wet and windy morning!
West Perth 5.7 (37) def Perth 4.2 (26)
The royals host both our Rogers Cup and WAFLW League sides THIS Friday Night under lights.
