Author: West Perth FC

West Perth Football Club is proud to announce a historic first: Tracey Roberts MP, Federal Member for Pearce and current Vice Patron, has been appointed as the club’s inaugural Women’s Patron. This milestone not only highlights the club’s ongoing commitment to advancing women’s football but also celebrates Tracey as a trailblazing leader, mentor, and role model within the community. Her passion for empowering others, championing female talent, and guiding the next generation of athletes makes this appointment a defining moment in the club’s history.

Tracey Roberts brings an unparalleled combination of leadership, community engagement, and advocacy for women’s participation in sport. Her experience as former Mayor of the City of Wanneroo, alongside her work as Federal Member for Pearce, positions her perfectly to support, champion, and elevate West Perth’s women’s football program.

“The appointment of Tracey as Women’s Patron is a truly landmark moment for our club,” said Trish Medwin, Board Director of Women’s Football. “Tracey’s unwavering dedication to empowering women, her outstanding leadership, and her deep connection to our community make her the perfect person to champion our women’s football program. With Tracey’s guidance and advocacy, we can inspire the next generation of players, strengthen our pathways from junior development programs right through to AFLW, and continue building a culture of excellence, inclusion, and ambition within our club. Her appointment signals not just growth, but a bold vision for the future of women’s football at West Perth.”

West Perth President Jimmy Caffieri added, “Our women’s football program at West Perth continues to reach new milestones—both on and off the field—and it’s something we as a club are genuinely proud of. Over recent seasons, we’ve seen an outstanding rise in participation, player development, and community engagement. More girls and women than ever before are wearing the red and blue, stepping onto our training grounds, and pursuing their football journey with confidence and ambition.

“This growth hasn’t happened by chance. It’s the result of committed coaching staff, strong leadership, and a culture that values inclusivity, resilience, and opportunity. We’ve celebrated achievements across every level of our program—from first-year players finding their voice and identity within the team environment, to senior players setting new benchmarks of professionalism and performance. Every step forward matters, because each milestone strengthens the pathway for the next generation.

“That’s why the appointment of Tracey Roberts MP as our Women’s Patron is such a significant and inspiring moment for our club. Tracey has been a long-standing supporter and friend of both myself and West Perth. From her time as Mayor of Wanneroo through to her current role in Parliament, she has continually stood up for, supported, and spoken for our club. Her commitment has been genuine, steady, and deeply valued.”

Now, the focus turns to the future—to continue building, investing in development pathways, supporting coaches and mentors, and ensuring every player feels seen, supported, and valued. The impact is already visible: young girls in the stands who can now see themselves in the red and blue, families connecting with a program that represents the true spirit of West Perth—hard-working, united, and proud.

“West Perth Football Club has been part of the fabric of our community for generations, and I’m deeply honoured to serve as the club’s inaugural Women’s Patron,” said Tracey Roberts MP. “I’ve watched local girls and young women in the Pearce electorate grow in confidence and skill on the field, and I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it is when they have genuine pathways to pursue their football dreams. I’m incredibly proud to take on this role at such an exciting time for women’s football at West Perth. When young girls see women competing, leading, and thriving in sport, it changes what they believe is possible for themselves.”

West Perth Football Club extends its sincere gratitude to Tracey Roberts MP for her continued support and leadership. The club looks forward to working closely with her as Women’s Patron to further elevate women’s football, inspire future generations, and continue shaping a stronger, more inclusive future for the red and blue.
