Laura Pugh u16s Academy
West Perth Football Club is proud to announce the launch of the Laura Pugh U16s Academy in 2025, an exciting evolution of our industry-leading female football development program, formerly known as the Moora Citrus Female Football Academy. Named after current AFLW star and West Perth zone product Laura Pugh, this academy is designed to fast-track the development of talented young female players, preparing them for the elite level of football, including the Rogers Cup competition.
As part of this launch, we are expanding our successful partnership with Moora Citrus, bringing both the Laura Pugh U16s Academy and the newly announced Brooke Hongell 13s Academy under the newly created Moora Citrus Female Football Pathway. This comprehensive talent pathway offers unparalleled support and resources for young female players within the West Perth zone, ensuring their development is guided by the best in the industry.
The Laura Pugh U16s Academy is an invite-only program that operates year-round, with fortnightly sessions focusing on elite-level skill development coaching, strength and conditioning, and personal development education. Athletes will receive guidance on critical areas such as hydration, nutrition, sleep, menstrual health, and social media management, equipping them with the tools they need to succeed both on and off the field.
This program has been instrumental in West Perth’s dominance in the female football space, helping the club secure three Rogers Cup premierships in the past four years. By continuing to invest in female football through elite coaching and player education, West Perth is setting a new benchmark for female talent development in Western Australia.
With the Moora Citrus Female Football Pathway, young female athletes in our zone will have access to unmatched resources and support, allowing them to develop their skills, build resilience, and reach their full potential. As we look ahead to 2025 and beyond, the Laura Pugh U16s Academy will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of female football at West Perth Football Club.
