Falcons Success A Stepping Stone to Career Progression
Over the past few years the West Perth Football Club has successfully brought itself back from near extinction, won a WAFL premiership and seen a number of key personnel move on to bigger career roles.
This week the Club has sadly accepted the resignation of Steve Trewhella, General Manager of Football, who has accepted a role at the West Coast Eagles as the new Development Manager. Steve has been a standout football manager in the WAFL, and it is no surprise that the West Coast Eagles have also recognised this. After five years in the position Steve has helped guide the football department through some tough times which eventuated in a WAFL league flag in 2022.
CEO Joe McCarthy says, “Steve now joins former head coach Geoff Valentine, previous Talent manager Casey Haw and former Football Operations Coordinator Anthony Donetta, within the AFL system. The West Perth Football Club continues to create pathways for individuals to grow and we celebrate all of their success.”
President Dr Neale Fong says, “Steve has left a strong legacy at the WPFC as a premiership captain three-time Breckler Medallist and now as a football manager. As a life member of our club Steve will forever be connected by the Red and the Blue. We are proud that our Club develops good people for the wider football industry. As a strong Club we will continue to attract the very best people and further develop them.”
