Thank You Ryan Lasscock (SASS)

Wednesday, September 6, 2023 - 3:21 PM
After an incredible seven-year journey at the helm of the West Perth Football Club Colts program, Ryan Lasscock (Sass) has made the bittersweet decision to step down as the Colts’ head coach. His legacy, marked by remarkable transformation and unwavering commitment to player development, will be remembered by fans, players, and the entire football community for years to come.

When Sass assumed the role of the Colts coach seven years ago, the program was far from its glory days. West Perth was struggling on and off the field, unable to secure a place in finals in Ryan’s first two years. However, under Ryan’s leadership, the club has played finals for five consecutive years. This is a testament to his strategic vision, relentless work ethic, and the ability to inspire his team and get the best out of his players.

One of Ryan’s most reliable qualities is his exceptional ability to build lasting relationships. His players aren’t just athletes; they become part of his extended family. This personal touch and genuine care have had a profound impact on the young athletes he has mentored. Even after graduatating from the colts’ program, whether that’s the amateur league, senior football or AFL football, the bond forged with Ryan remains strong. It’s a testament to his character from those he has coached.

In the world of sport coaching, success isn’t just measured by the number of wins on the field but the enduring impact on the player’s lives and development. Ryan leaves behind a Colts’ program that is not only in a better position than when he started but one that has been transformed tenfold. The club now expects finals, and Ryan hopes to see some of his graduating colts from 2022 achieve some success in 2023 after going down in the Grand Final by 2 points last year.

As Sass takes this next step in his journey, it’s important to acknowledge that he won’t be lost to football. His passion for the game, his commitment to player development, and his unwavering dedication to making a difference in young athletes will undoubtedly find new avenues of expression.

On behalf of the West Perth Football Club and the entire West Perth football community, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ryan Lasscock for his remarkable contributions. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours, knowing that wherever his path leads, he will continue to make a positive impact, just as he has done at West Perth. Farewell, Sass.

“I would like to thank the WPFC for the opportunity to coach the Colts program of the past 7 years.

It has been an enjoyable ride, and a pleasure to have had an involvement in the development of the players, both as footballers, and more importantly people.

Thank you to everyone that was involved during my time as coach. I look forward to watching the next group of young men represent the West Perth jumper with pride”.
