FALCONS TEAM UP WITH THE SUNDAY TIMES

Saturday, March 7, 2015 - 10:13 PM

THE West Perth Football Club is delighted to announce The Sunday Times as a major partner of the Falcons for the next three years.

The Sunday Times join Channel 9 Perth, Lakeside Joondalup and the City of Joondalup as major partners of the West Perth Football Club on the cusp of an exciting new era with the multi-million dollar redevelopment of HBF Arena and the Club's growing footprint in the northern corridor.

The partnership with The Sunday Times, and perthnow.com.au, is an indication of the status that the West Perth Football Club holds in the West Australian community.

Not only has the West Perth Football Club attracted the highest WAFL attendances for the last three seasons, but it continues to be a community leader in the cities of Joondalup and Wanneroo.

This has been highlighted by the work done during the International Football Festival in recent seasons along with Hog's Breath Café Ladies Day and the outstanding progress of the Djinda Falcons Indigenous Program under the leadership of former AFL star Andrew Krakouer.

On the field, West Perth won the WAFL premiership in 2013.  In 2014 the Club contributed seven players to the WAFL State team, Aaron Black won the Sandover Medal, Shane Nelson finished runner-up and Aidan Lynch claimed the Prendergast Medal.

Off the field, the Falcons posted a significant financial turnaround in 2014 delivering an encouraging profit while making it an ever-increasing focus to not just be a football club, but a community leader right throughout the Club's district.

The new partnership with The Sunday Times and perthnow.com.au will further enhance the work and profile of the West Perth Football Club throughout the community.

That support has already begun with The Sunday Times becoming the Official Event Partner of the inaugural Falcons Family Fun Day at HBF Arena on Sunday March 8.

West Perth Football Club President Brett Raponi is thrilled at the announcement of the new partnership with The Sunday Times.

"I am delighted that The Sunday Times will be joining forces with the Falcons - the WAFL’s oldest, proudest and most traditional club," Raponi said.

"The Sunday Times has been a staple part of my weekend since the day I could first read. To read the scores and reviews of all games, especially the Falcons, has long been a highlight for every Falcons fan on Sunday mornings.

"Their support of the WAFL, AFL and all sports in this state is to be commended. The Sunday Times joining forces with the Falcons will enable both organisations to work together to be even better community contributors."

The Sunday Times' Marketing Director Charlene D'Monte is also excited at the chance to become a major partner with the West Perth Football Club.

"The Sunday Times and PerthNow are very excited about partnering with the West Perth Football Club for the next three years," D'Monte said.

"The Falcons are one of the oldest clubs with a very vocal and loyal fan base. The work West Perth undertake in the community is highly regarded and is a perfect alignment with one of our key brand values of championing our local community."
