City of Joondalup WAFLW Round 11 Match Report
South Fremantle 6.3 (39) def. West Perth 5.6 (36)
It was a heartbreaking finish for West Perth, with the girls fighting right to the final siren only to have the result slip away in the dying moments.
A special milestone belonged to Zoe Huggett, who celebrated her 100th WAWFL/WAFLW game against her former club. It was a fitting stage for such a significant achievement, and a testament to the respect South Fremantle still have for Zoe that she attracted close attention from multiple opponents throughout the day. Her contribution to the game and to women’s football has been outstanding.
Jessica Roper also celebrated her 50th WAFLW game in West Perth colours. An outstanding player and teammate, Jess has grown into one of the competition’s most dependable performers. Her toughness, consistency and willingness to put the team first have made her a valued leader within the group, and reaching this milestone is a reward for the hard work and dedication she brings week after week.
On the field, Ellee McEvoy was outstanding, earning best on ground honours with her relentless second, third and fourth efforts around the contest. Her work rate and determination never wavered. Sophie Fisher was equally impressive, attacking every contest with intent and providing one of the highlights of the day with a spark goal that lifted the side.
With a bye ahead, the focus now shifts to reconnecting, rebuilding and preparing for the remainder of the season.

West Perth 6.2 (38) def. South Fremantle 5.7 (37)
The young Falcons pulled off one of their most courageous wins of the year, staging an incredible final-quarter comeback to steal a thrilling one-point victory over South Fremantle at Fremantle community bank Oval. Trailing by 30 points at the final break, the girls simply refused to surrender. They dug deep to unleash a stunning four-goal final quarter while completely locking down the opposition.
Amity Spencer was lethal up forward with three crucial goals, while goals from captain Hayley Mann, Olivia Britten, and Amber McKeon kept the side within striking distance. Around the ball, Nataliah Bodney battled relentlessly, while Indi Dickerson, Issy Seivwright, Isla Haughton, and Ashlyn Hall provided the drive and composure needed when the game was on the line. This win showed the true heart and unbreakable character of this young group proving exactly what they can achieve when they fight for each other until the final siren.

Marlee Resources Colts Round 10 Match Report
Was an early morning hit out where the Sharks hosted our Falcons – With a cool dew in the air, staff and players alike were unable to warm themselves up without a visit to the Carnaby’s coffee shop for a warm brew!
Whilst the prep for the week hadn’t changed and there was a sense of real positivity after our demolition on the Royals and a proceeding week off – There was a sense of optimism that the class and strength of East Fremantle was going to be a challenge, but a challenge we were prepared and ready for.
Unfortunately this was not the case.
The sharks blew out to a 6 goal to nothing lead at quarter time with our falcons struggling to transition the ball out of our defensive 50 – The Sharks’ midfield brigade and rebound protection too strong for our side.
Whilst the numbers early on suggested the inside battle was somewhat even, it was the outside numbers which were glaring – Hurting us on transition and more importantly, punishing our side on turnover.
17 year old ruck, Lachlan Jones was one of very few on the day who could hold his head up high, 18 touches, 4 tackles and 22 hitouts, he was a shining light in an otherwise frustrating day.
Whilst we had the likes of Luca Boczar, Blake Jones and Hudson Fowler accumulate much of the ball, East Fremantle’s pressure was the difference with even our primary users/movers succumbing to the immense pressure being applied resulting in turnovers, poor decisions and ultimately A LOT of chasing.
The tasks continue to prove difficult, with another formidable challenge approaching this weekend against the Bulldogs who easily accounted for us in our last meeting.
MVP – Luca Boczar
Goal Kickers – 2 Sewell, Dwyer, 1 B. Jones, Fitch, Harris, Gliddon, Zuchetti.
Final Score – EF 18.8 (116) def WP 9.4 (58)
