WAFL League Round 2 Match Report
An improved performance from the League side on Sunday, however inaccuracy in front of the sticks, and the inability to put West Coast away in the 3rd quarter when we were 35 points up at the 18 min mark, unfortunately came back to hurt us. West Coast kicked 10 of the last 11 goals for the game, so whilst we had some promising glimpses of the brand Paul Sanzone & the playing group are working away at, we have significant room for improvement which we need to start seeing on a more consistent basis, to achieve that first win of the season we are all desperately chasing.
Connor West & Kane Bevan played significant roles, with Kane captaining the team for the first time, Jonah Brooks played an important role for the team & won the battle against Clay Hall. As we head to Steel Blue Oval this Saturday to take on Swan Districts, we encourage our supporter base to make the trip & celebrate two champions of our football club, Tyler Keitel playing his 200th with his partner in crime, Keegan Knott playing his 150th.
Whist our season hasn’t started the way we had all hoped, we are on a journey with a relatively new squad & a transitioning list over the coming seasons, and it’s through such times true character shines through for the greater good of the football club. Nothing worth fighting for in life comes easy, we all need to keep showing up, from the board, administration staff, the coaching & playing group, & our loyal supporters, keep the faith.

Futures Round 6 Match Report
A trip South was on the cards for the Falcons Futures’ side with a hit-out against the South West Academy being hosted down at Hands Oval, Bunbury.
An elite facility was prepared for us and what followed was a tough, physical contest that saw the young Falcons prevail.
Although the South West brigade had their fair chances to secure the win, their inaccuracy left the door open for the Falcons and it was their accuracy in front of goal which ultimately saw our boys sing their song at the end of the mornings match.
Deacon Seumanu was impressive in the front half with fantastic goal-sense and the stickiest of mits’ on the day – But it was Andrew Aubrey who impressed the most. Moving into a ruck role full-time, his athleticism and agility was on display for all to see, with a sweeping left foot to compliment his ground level ascendancy something all enjoyed as they watched on.
More than 65 people flocked to the South West on Wednesday night – A chance for Futures players and families to share in some fellowship over dinner.
The West Perth Football Club wishes to thank the team at Froth Brewery for their hospitality in their support of 65 hungry mouths in the space of a 60 minute window!
One game to go – We play Swan Districts this Friday (17/04) at Bassendean in a late afternoon match that may well and truly decide who sits inside the top-2 of Futures teams for 2026!
Final Score:
South West 6.12 (48) def by WP 9.6 (60)
