WAFL COUNCIL OF PRESIDENTS
INITIAL CLUB COMMENT ON THE STRUCTURAL REVIEW OF FOOTBALL
The WAFL clubs acknowledge the strategic review of football proposes a significant change in the WA football landscape. Each club is currently undertaking appropriate consideration of the commission’s proposal with the common objective of providing an optimum solution to WA football’s challenges.
Given this, the Clubs feel it’s incumbent on the WAFC to provide additional information about the recommendations during the six week consultation phase as set by the WAFC. This will assist each club to provide well-considered and informed feedback.
WAFL clubs agree that there should be a consistent approach in the player development pathway. In fact, all WAFL clubs and the WAFC have been involved in very productive changes to ensure we have common process and practices in recent years. An agreed set of minimum standards, rules changes, and operational aspects have been developed together to improve and better reflect best practice talent policy.
All WAFL clubs will meet individually with the WAFC and then work towards a collective position and response to the key recommendations.
