AARON BLACK COLUMN - THE WEST AUSTRALIAN
It’s fair to say it's been a bumpy few weeks for the side as we have won just one game out of our last three defeating Swan Districts three weeks ago and losing more recently to South Fremantle and Claremont.
We have made strides in a few areas but are disappointingly a long way away from where we would like to be.
Due to some disappointing and close losses we have given up a great position on the WAFL ladder to now sit fifth in the middle of the pack, making things all the more important in the coming weeks.
Things don’t get any easier for us with some tough challenges in the next two weeks, facing the top of the table Subiaco and reigning premiers Peel the following week.
We have struggled to maintain our effort, intensity and structures for four quarters which against the best sides in the competition is vital. Subiaco provide a huge challenge but even bigger reward and opportunity in a must win game in order to maintain our spot in the top five and show we are relevant in this competition.
Although coming up against quality opposition we are extremely confident in our ability and game structures and believe we can match it with the best and beat them.
Our opportunity to shine and prove this comes this weekend, in what will be a long hard slog as it always is against Subiaco. Conditions are going to play a huge factor in the game with it forecast to be wet and wild.
We are looking forward to a great opportunity to get back on the winners list but also proving it against the bench mark of the competition.
Personally, it’s good to be back with the readers after a busy few weeks. Although the end of term is always busy, the benefits of being a teacher is we get two weeks holiday!!
I look forward to keeping you updated more often than usual with the mid-year break fast approaching. This break is going to give me a great opportunity to prepare mentally and physically for our upcoming stretch of games and plenty of free time as well.
