VALE BRIAN HUMPHRIES

Monday, August 21, 2017 - 4:07 PM

THE West Perth Football Club was saddened to learn that 1951 premiership member 100-game game player Brian Humphries passed away last week aged 83.

As a 17-year-old, Humphries made his league debut at West Perth in 1951 and would go on to line-up on the wing in the premiership triumph with the Cardinals of that same year.

He would go on to play with West Perth until the end of 1955 racking up 102 games in the process.

During the course of his all too brief league career, Humphries impressed as a footballer who boasted, in ample measure, all the skills typically associated with the top-quality wingman: tremendous pace, good skills and an excellent team sense.

His 102 games included the grand finals of 1951and 1952. He also represented Western Australia three times. His football career came to a premature end in 1955 when he moved abroad.

Everyone at the West Perth Football Club wishes to send its condolences to Brian's wife June, and his children Ross and Karen, their partners Jodi and Neil, his grandchildren Joshua, Dempsey, Vince, Jay, Lawson and Ebonee, and great grandson Derek.
