WEST PERTH FOOTBALL CLUB INC.
EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR ELECTION TO THE
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
2020
The West Perth Football Club is WA’s oldest club in the WA Football League competition with a rich and successful heritage formerly based at Leederville Oval and for the past 25 years in Joondalup. The Club has been through a difficult period off the field and is now positioned to forge a strong and sustainable future, as a premier sporting organisation in Perth’s booming northern suburbs. It continues as one of WA’s most successful football clubs in all leagues and teams. Women’s football and connections to junior and community football are also an integral part of the Club’s future.
The Club is looking to appoint volunteer Directors to its board to lead and govern it over the coming years. The board is seeking nominations from individuals with a mix of skills including governance, finance, football affairs, marketing, community development and fundraising. Whilst a WAFL Club Board will typically provide strategic oversight and direction to support the operations of the Club, in the more immediate term Directors at WPFC will be required to balance both the strategic and operational support of the Club, requiring the availability of time.
The requirements of a Director will typically include:
- Attendance at monthly Board meetings
- Attendance at sub-committee meetings to which they are appointed
- Attendance at Club home games
- Being an advocate for the Club in developing strong community, commercial and stakeholder relationships
- Support of the CEO and administration team in delivering football, community and commercial strategies
- Attendance and support of Club events, functions and fundraising activities
Women and men with a passion for the game of AFL and the ongoing success of the Club are encouraged to nominate.
Candidates must be paid up members of the Club or have been paid up members of the Club in 2019 and be nominated and seconded by two current paid up Club members or two members who were who were paid up Club members in 2019. The WA Football Commission under the conditions of the Loan Agreement which it has with the Club, will approve all nominations and an election will be held with an independent Returning Officer overseeing the election process.
Candidates are invited to apply and send a short resume along with the confidential nomination to the Returning Officer PO Box 11 JOONDALUP WA 6919 or email to aemery@wafc.com.au
Nominations will only be accepted if they have complied with the information requested on the official Nomination Form. Nominations close 5.00PM March 25th.
Official Nomination Forms are available on the WPFC website (www.westperthfc.com.au) or from the Club office at the Joondalup Arena, Kennedya Drive Joondalup.
Any enquiries can be made by email to Neale Fong, President, West Perth Football Club (president@falconsfc.com.au).
