Falcons Appoint New CEO to Lead the Club
Falcons Appoint New CEO to Lead the Club
The Board of the West Perth Football Club is excited to announce the appointment of Joe McCarthy as the Club’s new Chief Executive Officer.
Joe has recently resigned from his position as CEO of Motorcycling Western Australia (MWA). In Joe's time at MWA he has managed to reverse a negative budget trend and has left the organisation with its first trading surplus in the last six years. With 45 clubs and over 3000 members Joe has had significant experience in stakeholder engagement, member services and the management of finances within a sport environment .
Joe has held senior management positions within multiple sports including Westcycle and has worked as a project management consultant for the Peel Sports and Recreation Network and as a learning facilitator at the Western Australia Institute of Sport (WAIS).
Joe has a master’s degree in Sports Management as well as an MBA.
Club President Dr Neale Fong said he and the Board were very confident in Joe’s ability to move the club forward in the right direction and was impressed with his ideas and vision for the Club over the coming years.
“Joe’s appointment signals the start of a generational change at WA’s oldest football club. He is an experienced operator, who lives in the northern suburbs with a young family, still plays AFL Masters and has excellent people and management skills”.
The appointment was made after the Club and the WAFC worked through a list of twenty high calibre applications. Dr Fong also paid tribute to interim CEO and Club Director Jimmy Caffieri who has held the reins of the club in a voluntary capacity for the past 12 months. Jimmy will work with the new CEO in smooth transition.
Incoming CEO Joe McCarthy is also excited at the opportunity to join West Perth.
"I am excited to be part of the West Perth Team. I see great potential for the Club to move forward and for West Perth to continue its success both on and off the field”.
"I am looking forward to meeting everyone and to learn from them both the rich history of the Falcons and how we can make sure there are many more years of success for the Red and the Blue”.
Mr McCarthy will commence his role on Tuesday 21 April 2020.
