Womens Reserves Round 2 Wrap Up
With a bye in the first round West Perth Seniors side were excited to get back on the field for 2021.
7 debutant players took the field for their first time playing Senior Football.
The rebuilding of the midfield proved to have it's challenges with West Perth struggling to get their hands on the ball early.
The Swans showed they are a force to be reckoned with in 2021 with quick pick ups out of the middle putting huge pressure on the West Perth backline.
The second quarter started well with West Perth kicking their first goal through Courtney Collard.
Unfortunately, the goals ended there, with the swans closing out the first half with 7.
The second half saw our Co-Captain Trish Medwin return into the backline and our backs were able to keep the Swans to just 3 goals.
Some positives were taken from the battle with first gamers Zoe Panagopoulos and Tia Smith having stand out performances.
Panagopoulos was carving it up on the wing and getting involved early.
Smith was not only able to hold her own in the ruck but grew as the game unfolded and will be one to watch in 2021.
Though the game was one sided the large crowd created great atmosphere to girls especially the three 50 Gamers
in Co-Captain Amy Montgomery, Alyson Blachard and Tiahna Scandrett. All three playing a solid game for their team.
The team has returned to the training track hard in preparation for this week's game Sunday 11am against Subiaco at Leederville Oval.
