Experienced Clint Degebrodt named as Interim WAFLW Head Coach
Experienced football coach and operator, Clint Degebrodt has been appointed as Interim WAFLW Head Coach for the remainder of the 2023 Season in what is an exciting appointment for the club.
Clint’s role is to continue the hard work of Steve Hazell in developing our playing group to remain competitive within the WAFLW competition and to increase our standing in the competition by continuing to formulate a professional, destination-based elite program for talent to call home.
Clint’s experience in football is extensive, spanning the last 16 years in roles including 2 years as the Head Coach of the WA State 18 Youth Girls, almost 4 years as State Talent Manager – Female Programs with the WAFC and more recently employed by the West Coast Eagles as a Youth Engagement Coordinator.
Clint’s life before football was with the Department of Education as a Teacher and then Principal.
CEO Joe McCarthy had this to say about Clint’s appointment:
“We’re really pleased with this appointment. We have full-faith in Clint to continue Steve’s mission of creating a highly competitive and professional environment for our WAFLW athletes.
We believe Clint can continue to set us up for success in this Interim position and his focus will be ensuring our players are being the best they can be.”
Fiona Boucher, one of our clubs’ 2023 Assistant Coaches will step in as Head Coach for this weekends’ clash against South Fremantle to allow Clint some time to observe, assess and provide feedback moving forward before officially commencing in the WAFLW Head Coach role next Tuesday, May 9th.
Welcome to the club, Clint.
