West Perth Football Club Womens Program Soars to New Heights in 2024
The West Perth Football Club celebrated a triumphant launch of its Womens Program for the 2024 season, marking a momentous occasion that promises to propel the team from 'good to great' in the upcoming year.
The Season Launch event, held at Pentanet Stadium, witnessed an unprecedented turnout, with over 260 passionate supporters, sponsors, players, and their families coming together to kick off a season filled with promise and determination.
A highlight of the evening was the further unveiling of the revolutionary 'Personal Excellence Hub,' a groundbreaking initiative designed to set new standards in holistic player development, both on and off the field. This hub stands as a testament to West Perth Football Club's unwavering commitment to nurturing the personal and athletic growth of its players.
The inaugural WAFLW player auction added an electrifying element to the evening, with attendees investing thousands of dollars to secure the best talents for the 2024 season – This being an initiative run within the WAFL program for sometime. The spirited bidding war underscored the level of excitement and anticipation surrounding the upcoming matches.
This memorable night also embraced the spirit of community, with young girls and their families from our connected community clubs joining in the festivities. Continuing a cherished tradition, they played an integral role in presenting jumpers to our aspiring Rogers Cup players, fostering a sense of unity and mentorship within the West Perth family.
A major milestone towards greater equity was unveiled during the event, as female players now enjoy full-time access to their dedicated gym, changerooms, lecture theatre, sauna, ice plunge and more. These state-of-the-art facilities are meticulously designed to empower our female athletes to be the best versions of themselves, both on and off the field.
What excites the West Perth Football Club’s Head of WAFLW Development, Luke Richardson, most, is the depth of talent coming through aided by the clubs’ industry-leading Moora Citrus Female Football Academy:
“I’m in awe of the developed talent that we’re starting to see transition through our pathway. Our Moora Citrus Female Football Academy is a beacon of talent-developmental excellence with key focuses on both on-field and off-field areas to be the best they can be.
Without our Academy, we simply would not be in the position we are in – in the 3-years we have run our Academy, we have won 2 premiership flags and played finals each year.”
In the words of Club President Dr. Neale Fong:
"The success of this Season Launch is a testament to the dedication and passion of everyone involved in the West Perth Football Club. We are not just building a team; we are fostering a community that values excellence, inclusivity, and a relentless pursuit of success. The 2024 season is poised to be a historic one for our Womens Program, and we can't wait to see our players shine."
As the West Perth Football Club gears up for an extraordinary season, the entire community is invited to join in the excitement and support the journey of the Womens Program towards unparalleled success.
