ONWARDS AND UPWARDS FOR THE FALCONS

ONWARDS AND UPWARDS FOR THE FALCONS
In another pleasing result at the West Perth Football Club AGM held on Monday 9th December a fifth straight surplus was recorded by the club. The Falcons recorded a profit before depreciation of $58,035.00 increasing revenue by 4.4% on the prior year, with a strong performance in gate receipts (up 41%) following successful collaboration with the WAFL wonderland and the Perth Football League finals.
This above result was another positive leap forward for the football club as Dr Neale Fong’s time as President came to an end after he decided to step down after many years of service to the football club.
Dr Fong was presented with life membership on the night by his great friend and colleague and former Vice President and club Patron Ross Kelly.
The Falcons strengthened their balance sheet after repaying $104,220.00 to the WAFC leaving the club officially debt free. The Falcons finished 2024 financial year with $457,387.00 of cash and a working capital surplus of $299,416 providing a solid footing for the club moving into season 2025.
The night also saw current player and 2022 premiership player Luke Meadows awarded life membership as well as 1969 and 1971 premiership player Bryan Pleitner. Moving forward to 2025 former Vice President Jimmy Caffieri was appointed by the new board as the new President as well as Paul Cox and Richard Homsany who were both re-elected. Pia Drummond and Simon Devlin have both been co-opted for Season 2025.
Overall, the club is now debt free and in a great position to have success both on and off the field in 2025.
Quotes:
CEO Joe McCarthy
“Neale has been the backbone of the club over the last 6 years as we have rebuilt. He has supported and guided me as the CEO, and I will forever be grateful for his mentorship. We have been a tight team and on behalf of the club and the board I would like to thank Neale for his lifetime dedication to the mighty Falcons.”
President Dr Neale Fong
“I have been privileged to lead the club I have been part of for nearly 50 years and to receive life membership is a great honour. We have turned the club around and I have great confidence in the new administration as we forge ahead to be a leader in women’s and men’s football for the WAFL.”
Incoming President Jimmy Caffieri
“I am very honoured to become president of the club that I have loved my whole life. I thank Neale for all his hard work and dedication to our club and am looking forward to Season 2025 for all our teams”.
