WAFL League & Reserves Round 8 Match Report
What a great day for our great club culminating in beating our arch rivals on WA Day.
It all started on Saturday when our Rogers and WAFLW teams both had big wins over East Perth, congratulations to all players, coaches, and support staff.
Coming into Monday’s fixture knowing just how important this game is to the club we got off to a great start with the colts playing some impressive footy to notch up their big win and give the club the perfect start to the day.
Having gotten up there early in the day to watch our talent play it was great to see how connected these young players are and the brand of football they played is a credit to all involved in our talent programme
Our Reserves then stepped up to continue what has been a great start to the season.
Having been behind on the scoreboard at half time, the lads certainly came out and played very well in the second half to register our 4th win of the year.
The self-belief and team football played was pleasing to see.
In Aidan, Mick, Brayden, Rhys and Blake our playing group is in very good hands and continue to lead the way in development of the playing group.
What a way to finish the day with our Senior team playing 4 quarters of Team footy to register our 1st win of the season. Our pressure right from the outset on East Perth was the best it has been all season, and it went a long way to disrupting the opposition’s ability to transition the footy the way they like to.
On the back of our Team defence came our ability to move the footy the way we can on offence and have the footy spend more time in our forward half which was pleasing to see.
Our connection between the lines looked to be more cohesive and the spirit within the group was there for all to see with each player playing their part in the win and its great reward for the work the entire playing group has been putting in.
For the club to register 5 wins in the one weekend across all programmes was great to be involved in.
To our loyal members, supporters and families thank you for your continued support of our great club.

Whilst Round 8 was earmarked as the 360th senior mens derby, fighting for the Polly Farmer Shield, our Colts lads’ continue to commit to one of the oldest sporting rivalry’s in Western Australia.
Being the first traditional ‘morning’ timeslot for our colts side this season, there was a whiff of concern that the teenage boys may struggle to leave the comfort of their beds for a morning start on a Public Holiday – But those concerns were quickly quelled after a 12-goal to nothing first half, put the Royals to the sword.
State-18 under-ager Campbell Creyk returned to the Falcons this week, with a HALE PSA bye and was simply superb – 40 touches, 4 tackles and 1 goal as East Perth simply did not have an answer for the young gun.
But it was our tall-timber who impressed the most – Our own resident ‘Donkey’ (if you know, you know) Lachy Jones is starting to string together a brand of football that showcases his bright future at our football club and beyond – Taking on primary ruck duties, Lachy’s 20 hit-outs and 21 touches were pivotal in obtaining ascendancy across the middle of the ground. He was ably supported by secondary ruck and developing forward Zach French who provided 7 inside 50s for the game, to go along with his 26 touches and 7 marks – Frenchy’s game was something he’d been building towards for some time and what a sight it was!
Whilst the midfield brigade were on top for most of the match, it was the back 6 who continue to promote consistency and are operating well together under the guidance of Backs Coach Stu Page and Backs Development Coach Josh Groves. Captain, Luca Boczar received BOG honours with 36 touches, 1 goal, 7 inside 50s to go with his 4 marks – Boxxy was unstoppable and it was a pleasure to watch.
Tadhg Barrowclough continues to be Mr. Reliable within our key defensive stocks with another 27 touches, 9 marks and 2 inside 50s contributing to the teams success each and every week.
Whist this was a fantastic win, our focus shifts quickly to our post-bye opponents of East Fremantle into South Fremantle. A mighty challenge that our young falcons are keen to defeat.
