The West Perth Football Club is thrilled to announce the return of Matthew Lowndes as our Club Chaplain for the 2025 season. Entering his third year in the role, Matt will continue to oversee the welfare and pastoral care of our senior male athletes and talent pathway programs.

His presence has been instrumental in shaping a strong, supportive culture within the club, ensuring that our players are not only physically prepared for the challenges of the game but also mentally and emotionally supported throughout their football journey. A highly respected and cherished member of our football community, Matt has developed strong connections with our players, providing invaluable support both on and off the field.

His ability to build trust and create meaningful relationships has made him a key figure in the club, offering guidance and a listening ear whenever needed. Whether it’s during training sessions, game days, or personal challenges faced by our players, Matt is always available to provide support, encouragement, and reassurance.

One of the most significant aspects of Matt’s role is his commitment to player welfare, ensuring that the well-being of our athletes remains a top priority in all decision-making processes. In the high-pressure environment of elite sport, having a dedicated Chaplain like Matt helps our players navigate the ups and downs of their careers with a balanced and holistic approach to their personal and professional development.

In addition to working closely with the senior squad, Matt plays a vital role in our talent pathway programs, helping to shape the next generation of West Perth footballers. His involvement in these programs ensures that young athletes receive the guidance and mentorship needed to transition successfully into senior football, reinforcing the club’s commitment to nurturing not only skilled players but also well-rounded individuals.

We are grateful for Matt’s ongoing dedication and the positive impact he has on our club culture. His passion for the game, combined with his genuine care for the well-being of our players, makes him an invaluable part of the West Perth Football Club family. His presence strengthens our commitment to fostering an environment where our players can thrive both as athletes and individuals, promoting values of resilience, teamwork, and personal growth.

As we embark on another exciting season, we are proud to have Matt by our side, ensuring that our players have the support they need to perform at their best. Welcome back, Matt—we look forward to another fantastic year with you as part of our team!
