COACH BILL MONAGHAN SIGNS ON FOR THREE MORE YEARS
THE West Perth Football Club is delighted to announce that senior coach Bill Monaghan has re-signed for a further three years in a move that will see him become the longest serving coach in the 128-year history of the WAFL's oldest club.
Monaghan, a highly-respected player at both Subiaco and Peel Thunder, and reserves premiership coach with the Lions, took over from Todd Curley as senior coach of the West Perth Football Club in 2009.
In that time, Monaghan has taken the West Perth league side to 57 wins from 102 matches with the Falcons playing finals in 2009 and 2011 while guaranteed of second position on the ladder in 2013 with one game of the home and away season remaining.
The entire football department was subjected to a stringent review over the past three months which culminated in Monaghan making a detailed presentation to the Board in August.
As well as providing a detailed assessment of the club's playing list, Monaghan presented an insightful blueprint for the future of the West Perth Football Club which is located in one of the fastest growing regions in Australia.
"We are thrilled to have Bill continue as our league coach! We see Bill as being more than just the coach of our senior group – he is also our club coach." West Perth Football Club President Brett Raponi said.
"He helps set the agenda and direction for our colts and junior development programs. We have a relatively young but exciting squad that Bill has introduced to league football over the past five years. The Board wants to give Bill every opportunity to work and further develop this list.
"We believe this is a massive show of confidence in Bill and the stability will ensure competiveness and further success for West Perth over the next three years."
