WEST PERTH SQUAD HEADS TO MELBOURNE FOR FOXTEL CUP
THE West Perth Football Club is travelling to Melbourne today ahead of tomorrow night's Foxtel Cup clash against the Box Hill Hawks at Etihad Stadium.
Both West Perth and Box Hill are the reigning premiers of the WAFL and VFL respectively so it should be a terrific contest when they meet at Etihad Stadium.
The match begins at 6.30pm WST on Tuesday night with the match shown on the Fox Footy channel on Foxtel.
It is a first-round contest in the Foxtel Cup with the prize for the team winning the grand final in the knockout competition $100,000 so there's no doubt every club will be taking it seriously including the Falcons.
While the likes of Andrew Krakouer, Trent Manzone, Dan Hunt, Matt Fowler, Jay van Berlo, Chris Keunen, Laine Rasmussen, Andrew Strijk, Matt Spencer and Nick Rodda won't be playing, West Perth is taking to Melbourne a strong line-up.
From the team who lost to Swan Districts on Anzac Day, Matt Guadagnin, Matt Johnson, Shaun Marusic, Kris Shannon, Joe Morrow, Steve Potente, Jack Thrum, Max Alexander, Mitch van Berlo and Seva Martin come into the side.
Guadagnin, Marusic and Potente are premiership players from last year so are quality additions while Morrow, Shannon and Johnson have played good league football previously.
Van Berlo, Alexander and Thrum are set to make their senior debuts for West Perth while ruckman Martin will play his first senior game for the Falcons after arriving at the club in the off-season from Subiaco.
