WAFL League & Reserves Round 3 Match Report
A solid start versus Swan Districts in the league game on Saturday, showcasing some good ball movement which led to a 21-point margin at the 20-minute mark of the 2nd quarter. However, we battled to control momentum in the later part of the 2nd qtr, resulting in Swan Districts kicking 3 quick consecutive goals & narrowing the margin to 3 points at the main break. In a similar trend to R2 in the second half, Swan Districts had 13 scoring opportunities versus our 6, & we couldn’t maintain our composure at critical stages of the contest. Zac Gaudagnin showed positive signs of returning to his absolute best, along with Kane Bevan, Connor West & Conal Lynch who are all leading from the front with a fierce desire to compete. Ben Johnson & Chad Mulvogue provided plenty of spark & energy across our defensive line of the ground, & Tyler Keitel came with a presence to fight hard in the air in his milestone game, booting another three goals to take his career tally to 436 goals. Congratulations to Kai Dehavilland on making his Senior debut versus Swan Districts, Kai was one of, if not our best performer over the course of pre-season, and he showed some good signs on Saturday in a competitive game of football. A further congratulations to Tyler Keitel & Keegan Knott on their respective milestone games, two champions of our club.
Our Reserves team were extremely disappointed in their performance, highlighting the importance of mindset & preparation for whenever you take to the field. Aidan Lynch has addressed his troops, & we have no doubt the boys will come out firing this Sunday against South Fremantle. Ben Fairbank showed great signs with a MVP performance in his first game for the club, Aiden Nelson & Matt Galjaardt performed well, with Matt showing some versatility with a move up forward in the last quarter, booting three for the term.
Well done to Steve Chapman & the Colts group for chalking up their first win of the season, an additional congratulations to Michael Barton & the wider Futures team of players, coaches & support staff, on an enjoyable Futures campaign for all involved. To Koby Lecras, who recently returned from Melbourne after playing two games with the All-Australian team, well done Koby on your competitive performances, & a further congratulations on selection within the State 18’s for the upcoming National Championships. To Harvey Spawton-Guy, Campbell Creyk, Maxim Collins & Rafe Williamson, congratulations on your selection within the State 18’s also, and to Joshua Oldroyd for selection within the State 16’s program, all great outcomes & a great opportunity ahead.
Thanks to our loyal red & blue army who made the trip out to Bassendean on Saturday, as we move forward it’s important through challenging periods, we remain positive. Everyone is toiling away within the football club to improve our on-field performances, we all want it now, however at times it can be a case of two steps backwards to ensure sustainable progress forward. As we look to take on the reigning Premiers this Sunday, we welcome everyone to join us upstairs post game for Tyler Keitel testimonial, it’s important we celebrate Tyler’s outstanding contribution to this football club, & we look forward to seeing a packed club house on Sunday night, with plenty of time to rest & relax with a public holiday on Monday.

City of Joondalup WAFLW Round 4 Match Report
Final score – SD 7.8 (50) def WP 6.8 (44)
West Perth produced a courageous second-half effort against Swan Districts in Round 4, showing resilience and growth despite a challenging middle period.
After a solid opening, the Falcons drifted away from their trademark DNA in the second quarter, allowing the Swans to take control of the contest. However, the response after the main break highlighted the group’s character, with West Perth lifting their intensity and competitiveness to fight the game out strongly.
A major positive was the continued development of the forward line, which is beginning to look increasingly dangerous. Zoe Huggett led strongly from deep, providing a consistent target and presence inside 50.
The emergence of younger players remains a key focus, with Miley Hynes and Rikki Nannup stepping up against quality opposition. Both continue to show promising development as they adjust to the demands of state league football.
While the result didn’t fall West Perth’s way, there were clear signs of progress and areas to build on moving forward.
Attention now turns to the Round 5 clash against South Fremantle, with preparation already underway and Sabreena McKinnon set to make her WAFLW debut for the Falcons.

Delta Lithium Rogers Cup Round 4 Match Report
West Perth Rogers Cup took to the field on Friday night against Swan Districts, facing a strong and well-drilled opposition. Despite the result not falling our way, the group showed clear signs of growth and cohesion as they continue to build throughout the 2026 season.
Final Score: WP- 17 SD – 53
A special mention to Harper Lasscock, who made her Rogers Cup debut, showing great composure in her first game.
Charli led strongly as acting captain, setting the tone with intercept marking, tackling pressure, and clear on-field communication.
With 17 debutant players this season, the group is starting to gel, highlighted by improved passages of team play.
Standouts included Indi Dickerson, whose burst from congestion and clean delivery forward created drive, and Norbury, who worked tirelessly to present and intercept.
Swan Districts were a quality opposition, providing a valuable learning opportunity for our developing group.
Futures Round 7 Match Report
Friday afternoon played host to our Futures Falcons and the Black Ducks.
After a slow start, with a scoreline reflecting 4.2 to 1.1 going the way of Swans’ – The feeling was that maybe there was some ‘school-holiday-it is’ and the question was – Were the boys going to respond?
Respond they did – After getting within 3 points at half time after a dominant display of field position and ball movement, the young Falcons headed into the main break with momentum and confidence.
It was the aerial dominant display pf Sorrento Duncraig product, Jed McGuane, who was unstoppable all around the ground. Being a defenders nightmare, he finished the day with BOG-Honours and 2.3 in front of goals.
Although his display wasn’t alone, with 9 individual scorers contributing to the teams’ professional win under lights at Steel Blue Oval.
This game rounds out the Futures season for 2026 – With a 5-2 ledger and a second place finish atop the Futures ladder – And although this competition doesn’t see its athletes judged in the win-loss column – We truly believe the developmental markers shown this season bodes well for our colts program moving forward.
Swan Districts 6.6 (42) def by West Perth 12.12 (84).
Seumanu, Spencer, McGuane 2 Goals, A. Brown, Berry, Anwar, Oldroyd, Clarke and Lihou 1 Goal.

Marlee Resources Colts Round 3 Match Report
24 hours later, we had to return to the heritage-listed facilities for our to perform under lights. Swans were down on confidence after losing their first 2 games and the Falcons full of confidence after a Round 2 bye, and a close-match against the reigning back-to-back premiers the week before.
The questions being asked were how could the young ‘kids’, or Baby Falcons as they’re known, fair against a slightly older, more mature side in Swan Districts?
Well the boys answered in emphatic fashion, kicking 5.3 to QT, holding swans to just 1.2 – A fantastic defensive effort with the back 7 really humming already with the likes of Boczar, Barrowclough, Collins, Fitch, O’Lone and Ivankovich proving themselves hard to play on.
A 3-pronged attack of Spawton-Guy, Wain and French in the ruck meant our mids were getting great service and were able to even things up in the contest against those bigger more experienced bodies that the Swans’ had.
With Blake Roost (Northern Knightcats JFC) and Jack Harris (Joondalup Kinross JFC) debuting, they both stepped up to the rigours of colts football and did not look out of place – With Blakes’ defensive efforts and Jack’s front-half dominance, slotting 2 on debut in front of friends and family.
Swan Districts 5.11 (41) def by West Perth 12.11 (83)
Harris & Wain with 2 Goals, B. Jones, McGaune, French, Callcott, Braddock, Bidefeld, Zuchetti & De Fraine all hit the scoreboard with 1 goal each.
A big head-to-head hit-out awaits, with the Bulldogs making the trip north to face the Falcons on Sunday, April 26th at 5:30pm under lights at HIF.
