East Fremantle 6.4 (40) def. West Perth 5.7 (37)

West Perth’s 2026 WAFLW season came to a close on Sunday, with the Falcons falling just short to East Fremantle by three points.

After last week’s result confirmed this would be the team’s final game of the season, the Falcons were determined to finish with pride. West Perth started strongly, taking the game on with intent to lead for much of the afternoon. However, the Falcons were unable to maintain their momentum in the final quarter, allowing the Sharks to swim over the top and claim a hard-fought three-point victory.

Best on ground honours went to Kayla Van Den Heever, who led through her actions with relentless attack on the ball and fierce defensive pressure. Ellee McEvoy once again provided her trademark Irish run and carry, while Lexi Strachan showcased her class, skill and intensity around the contest. Hannah Power brought pace and energy to the Falcons’ ball movement, and Jess Roper stood strong in defence with several strong one-on-one efforts.

Despite another disappointing finish, the group showed what they are capable of across four quarters. Falling just short became an all-too-familiar story throughout the season, but the foundations have been built. The focus now turns to resetting, learning from the year, and returning stronger in 2027.

Delta Lithium Rogers Cup Round 18 Match Report

East Fremantle 9.9 (63) defeated West Perth 3.5 (23)

The Rogers Cup girls finished their 2026 season with a strong effort against East Fremantle. After a challenging first half, the Falcons responded in the third quarter, lifting their pressure and intensity to finish the game strongly. Unfortunately, the girls left their run too late to challenge the scoreboard.

Best on ground performances highlighted the effort and commitment across the group.

Nataliah Bodney led through her competitiveness and work rate, consistently attacking the contest and providing great effort across four quarters.

Charlie Clarke was outstanding with her ball pressure, defensive efforts and ability to create pressure around the contest.

Hayley Mann continued to set the standard with her leadership, effort and ability to lift those around her.

Ashlyn Hall showed great second efforts and determination, continuing to attack the ball and compete in every contest.

Indi Dickerson delivered another tireless performance, applying pressure and showing the work ethic that has been a feature of her season.

While the result wasn’t the finish the girls were after, 2026 has been a fantastic year of development, with many players making their Rogers Cup debuts and taking important steps in their football journey.
