FALCONS PRESSURE IMPRESSES

Monday, September 10, 2018 - 10:45 AM

By Darrell Kent

West Perth could not have been more impressive in their fifty three point victory over Claremont at The Arena on Sunday. The Falcons kicked the first goal within two minutes and were never headed in what was one of their best performances for the year. From the first bounce West Perth exerted tremendous pressure on their rivals and as a result they controlled the play to look the better side for most of the day. There will need to be a repeat performance next week when they return to Fremantle Oval to take on the Bulldogs in an encounter that will decide who takes on Subiaco in the Grand Final.

Club Message & Media Statement - Breckler Medal Awards Night 28 September 2018

Club Message & Media Statement

Breckler Medal Awards Night 28 September 2018

During the Voluntary Administration period, a discussion was held with the Administrators regarding planning for the Breckler Medal night. Players fees, that were received in early 2018, included an amount for the Breckler Medal function. This money was received early in the 2018 year, and no longer available to the Club to offset the cost for players to attend the function.  The discussion with the Administrators was whether to not host the Breckler Medal function at all, or alternatively, charge the players to attend the function. To honour the payments already received the decision was made to host separate functions and to have tickets available for general sale to help offset the lack of revenue from the players attending the function. The Club is trying to financially manage the fact that the player fees were received at the beginning of the year, and we now do not have those funds to help pay for the functions.

BULLDOGS FAR TOO GOOD

Monday, September 3, 2018 - 9:20 AM

By Darrell Kent

It was a beautiful day for footy at Fremantle Oval on Saturday and as a result a large crowd turned up to watch the qualifying final between West Perth and South Fremantle. The first quarter and a half was an entertaining and even contest but after this point in time the home side took control to run out ninety eight point winners. The Falcons have played consistent football all year, with only one disappointing game against East Perth during that time, but the firepower of the Bulldogs was too much for West Perth to overcome.

YOU HAVE TO LOVE THIS FOOTY TEAM

Monday, August 20, 2018 - 9:03 AM

By Darrell Kent

Two consecutive defeats, Jay van Berlo, Mike Lourey and Mark Hamilton out, third spot in the bag and as a result not as much to play for as East Perth but the Falcons were still too good for their rivals on Saturday. It is a great tribute to the character of the team that they were able to fight back after being down early and record an eighteen point victory. On top of that Tyler Keitel and Andrew Strijk were tied at the top of the goal kicking going into the game. Both kicked three but in the last quarter Keitel passed off on a couple of occasions when he could have taken the lead on his own. Their nearest opponent is nine behind so let’s hope that these two quality players remain at the top of the standings after the last round next week. West Perth has the bye. Also congratulations to Jacob Turner who scored a goal on his debut.

Falcons never in the hunt

Tuesday, August 14, 2018 - 10:23 AM

By Darrell Kent

You only have to be off your game a little against the ladder leading Subiaco to not have a good day. This was the case at Arena Joondalup on Saturday when the Lions dominated from the outset and eventually ran out forty seven point winners. West Perth tried hard but lacked the polish of the visitors and as a result struggled to hit the scoreboard, only scoring three majors in the first three quarters.

Falcons fall just short - Darrell Kent

Monday, August 6, 2018 - 10:23 AM

By Darrell Kent

It would be fair to say that it was a cold and miserable day at Fremantle Oval on Saturday and this was reinforced by the narrow five point loss suffered by the Falcons. It was West Perth’s first defeat after having won their last three games. The highlight of the day for Falcons supporters was the 200th West Perth WAFL appearance by big man, Chris Keunen. This is a tremendous achievement and one that he and his family can be proud of. He battled hard all day and contributed strongly to the West Perth effort.
