A Luncheon in Memory of Carol Bick - 28 July

Friday, July 20, 2018 - 11:27 AM

Carol Bick was the Mum of the West Perth Football Club for the best part of 40 years. If you played for West Perth you were, and would always be, one of ‘her boys.’

From the time the club moved to Joondalup, she sat in the same seat in our grandstand right above the player’s race. At every home game she would be cheering for “her boys” from the time the colts started at 9am until the league team left the field at 5pm. She made it her business to know every player who took the field in every grade, because it meant a lot to her to make each of them feel important. However, where she sat in the grandstand was exposed to the elements. When asked why she sat there, she said that she wanted the sight of her applauding them to be the last thing the players saw, win or lose, as they left the ground. She wanted them to know they had her unconditional support.

East Fremantle might be anchored to the bottom of the WAFL ladder with just two wins for the season, but they did come off an improved second half the previous week despite losing to Claremont.

And then despite West Perth kicking three goals in just over five minutes to open proceedings on Saturday, East Fremantle responded well and were 15 points up by midway through the third quarter after Cameron Loersch had kicked his third goal. Read More [+]

IN THEIR WORDS – LUKE MEADOWS ROUND 14

Thursday, July 5, 2018 - 1:47 PM - by Luke Meadows

FALCONS faithful, you’ve asked, and I have delivered!

Coming off a tough week against Subiaco the lads have reviewed and learnt from the weekend and now look forward to the challenge of beating East Fremantle at Shark Park this Saturday.

They pose a threat with some quality recruits in the off-season but our ability to 'unite' as a team and be 'relentless' for four quarters will hold us in good stead for a 'professional' win - quote Aaron Black's pre-game speech.

WEST Perth is back to Joondalup Arena on Saturday to challenge the undefeated Subiaco while celebrating the annual International Football Festival in the process.

Not only is it a big day on Saturday at Joondalup Arena because of the WAFL game itself pitting the third placed West Perth up against the league-leading Subiaco, but the International Football Festival is proving one of the best days annually on the WAFL calendar.

Highlighting the job West Perth has done for the now annual event, 6044 watched Subiaco win by two points back in 2012 and 6195 watched East Fremantle win by 73 points in 2013.
