WEST PERTH PRE-SEASON FIXTURES

WEST Perth's road to the Round 1 WAFL season-opener at the redeveloped HBF Arena kicks into overdrive over the next fortnight with pre-season hit outs against Subiaco and East Fremantle.

There has been plenty of excitement surround West Perth over the summer with the opening of the state of the art, multi-million dollar new club rooms at HBF Arena not to mention the arrival of new chief executive Linda Hamersley and a host of other changes to take the Falcons into an exciting era.

The attention now turns on the field for West Perth with the Falcons to begin their official WAFL pre-season campaign this Saturday against Subiaco at Leederville Oval.

LINDA HAMERSLEY APPOINTED NEW WEST PERTH CEO

The Board of the West Perth Football Club is proud to announce the appointment of Linda Hamersley as the club’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Ms Hamersley recently resigned her position as CEO with Athletics New Zealand to relocate back to Perth to join her husband, Colin Batch, who is the Australian Men’s Hockey Coach. 

Linda held her role with Athletics New Zealand from 2014-2017 and oversaw a period of considerable business and membership growth in the organisation during her time.

The sporting organisation caters for more than 200 affiliated clubs with a membership of 25,000 people and 100,000 registered athletes. Prior to this, Linda was the Sports Services Manager for the New Zealand Olympic Committee and was also CEO of Hockey WA from 2004 – 2009.

RAPONI, STOKESBURY, VAN BERLO, BLACK BECOME LIFE MEMBERS

THE West Perth Football Club finished off 2017 with the Annual General Meeting inside the new sparkling new facilities at HBF Arena with Brett Raponi, Terry Stokesbury, Jay van Berlo and Aaron Black all inducted as life members.

Black and van Berlo, both 2013 premiership players and Breckler Medal winners, earned their right for life membership during the 2017 WAFL season by reaching respective 150-game milestones, while Stokesbury was given the honour after his long-time service.

Meanwhile, long-serving former club president Brett Raponi was voted a life member of the West Perth Football Club.

WEST PERTH CEO HEADING TO THE WA FOOTBALL COMMISSION

THE West Perth Football Club wishes to advise that Chief Executive Officer David Crute has accepted a full-time role with the WA Football Commission.

VALE RAY SCHOFIELD

THE West Perth Football Club offers its sincerest condolences to the family of Ray Schofield after one of our greatest ever players recently passed away aged 92.

Schofield will be remembered as one of the finest players to ever pull on a West Perth jumper with his remarkable ability to be equally effective playing at either end of the ground.

All told, Schofield played 277 games with West Perth between 1943 and 1958. Along the way, he kicked 261 goals beginning life as a full-forward leading the league's goalkicking in 1943 in a year where he turned only 19.

WEST PERTH'S 2018 SEASON BEGINS AT NEW-LOOK HBF ARENA

WEST Perth will unveil its brand new club rooms at the redeveloped HBF Arena to open the 2018 McDonald's WAFL season in Round 1 next year on Saturday March 31.

The WAFL season will open two weeks later than usual and West Perth will get the chance to play first up at the redeveloped HBF Arena against Claremont in Round 1.

From there the Falcons take on East Perth at Leederville Oval before another home game against South Fremantle in Round 3 at HBF Arena.

WEST PERTH FOOTBALL CLUB YEAR BOOK 2017 RELEASED AT AGM

THE West Perth Football Club was proud to host its 2017 Annual General Meeting at its brand new club rooms at HBF Arena on Tuesday December 12.

The AGM provided the first chance for members of the West Perth Football Club to get their first look at the brand new Falcons facilities at their Joondalup home, following the completion of the building in November.

All in attendance were able to receive a tour of the new West Perth clubrooms which being in control of the club mark the beginning of a brand new era which everyone associated with the club should be tremendously excited about.

COACHING VACANCY - RESERVES ASSISTANT COACH

The West Perth Football Club is currently seeking Assistant Coaches for the to work with the Falcons' Reserves team for the 2018 WAFL season.

As an Assistant Coach you will be responsible for developing senior listed players for the West Perth Football Club with the aim of supporting these players to achieve their potential and ready them for league football.

During the week you would be required to attend a minimum of one training session where you will assist in the planning and implementation of training drills, providing feedback to drive player improvement and communicating across the group on all training matters.

OSCAR ALLEN THE LATEST FALCON TO ENTER AFL SYSTEM

WEST Perth once again had 10 players in the AFL system in 2017 and now Oscar Allen will be another in 2018 having been selected by the West Coast Eagles.

Allen was taken by West Coast with selection No. 21 at the NAB AFL Draft on the back of his stellar 2017 that included him winning the Larke Medal from WA's State 18s campaign where he captained the team along with playing colts, reserves and league football back at West Perth.

The exciting young forward will now begin his time as an AFL footballer with the Eagles from 2018 and beyond.
