TRIPLE TREAT AS SHANE NELSON WINS BRECKLER MEDAL

PROLIFIC midfielder Shane Nelson has cemented himself as an all-time great of the West Perth Football Club winning the Breckler Medal as the fairest and best for a third time at a glittering awards night at Joondalup Resort.
It was a historic night for the West Perth Football Club with not only the celebration of the 2017 WAFL season with the Falcons' league, reserves and colts award winners, but also the introduction of the women's team awards with winners announced from the league, reserves and Youth Girls teams in the Mundella WA Women's Football League.
In the end, the major awards on the night were taken out by Nelson (league fairest and best), Conal Lynch (reserves), Dylan Yem (colts), Laura Pugh (women's league), Ruby Cunningham (women's reserves) and Dana Mullumby (Rogers Cup).
NELSON AGAIN LEADS WAY FOR FALCONS IN SANDOVER MEDAL
SHANE Nelson has once again led the way for West Perth in the Sandover Medal vote count on Monday night but he couldn’t quite take it out with South Fremantle's Haiden Schloithe winning ahead of teammate Tim Kelly.
Nelson had yet another outstanding season for the Falcons. He played his 100th game along the way and led the league for possessions with 33.2 a game.
That was recognised in the Sandover Medal count on Monday as he led the way for the Falcons with 26 votes.
FALCONS WELL REPRESENTED IN WAFL.COM.AU TEAM OF THE YEAR

WEST Perth again made finals in 2017 and the season of the Falcons has been recognised with four players named in the wafl.com.au Team of the Year as a result.
All four of the West Perth players were selected as part of the starting 18 in the wafl.com.au Team of the Year as well.
Kody Manning was named on a half-back flank, Aaron Black on a wing, Tyler Keitel at full-forward and then the league's leading ball winner Shane Nelson on the ball.
Each round during the season, a Team of the Round was named on wafl.com.au, with 192 different players named at least once across the 23 weeks, making them eligible for selection in the overall Team of the Year.

FALCONS LOSE TO SWANS TO BRING END TO 2017

FALCONS’ SEASON IS OVER

AN inaccurate first quarter was the precursor to a season-ending loss to Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval on Sunday. West Perth rallied on a number of occasions to hit the front but on the final siren West Perth was 15 points short of Swans.
As a consequence the Falcons season is over but in the context of the year the fifth placing was a good result and will provide a launching pad for next year.
The first quarter was one in which West Perth received very little reward for effort. They kicked the first score of the match, a behind, before Swans kicked the first goal after receiving a 50m penalty. It went to dangerous forward, Ricky Cary. The Falcons followed with three behinds. Of the first four West Perth scoring shots, three were very kickable and this was to come back and haunt the visitors.
