SATURDAY’S come from behind victory against East Perth definitely rates as one of the best wins I have been involved with.
The most pleasing aspect from a captain’s point of view was the player’s response to the challenge thrown down by the Royals. We are creating a bubble of genuine confidence within our group that with the right execution and willingness to compete, anything is possible.
That said, we have now faced three significant deficits in as many games and whilst the end results were two incredible wins over Swan Districts and East Perth, and one fairly close loss to Claremont, we need to strive for more consistency over longer periods.

DUAL West Perth fairest and best winner Shane Nelson could very well have taken his game to another level again so far in 2015 and Falcons coach Bill Monaghan feels it's time he got the recognition he deserves for consistently outstanding performances.
Nelson shared the Breckler Medal in West Perth's premiership year of 2013 with Andrew Strijk as just a 20-year-old where he averaged 27 possessions a game and then racked up 36 in an outstanding grand final performance in the win over East Perth.
Then again in 2014, he improved even further averaging over 31 disposals a game, including a high of 52 in the final around, and that saw him finish up as the sole winner of the Breckler Medal while also finishing as runner-up in the Sandover Medal to teammate Aaron Black.

WEST Perth kicked the last 12 goals of the match to pull off a simply remarkable 80-point turnaround in just over a quarter on Hog's Breath Café Ladies Day at HBF Arena on Saturday to end up beating East Perth by 38 points.
East Perth looked on track to win the first derby of 2015 on Saturday when leading by 42 points late in the third quarter, but West Perth then turned on some inspired football.
The Falcons kicked the last two goals of the third quarter and then 10 goals to nil in the last to end up winning a remarkable contest, 17.16 (118) to 12.8 (80).

IT IS hard to describe the change that came over the game at HBF Arena on Saturday. At the 21-minute mark of the third quarter East Perth led by 42 points and a sense of gloom had settled over the grandstand. But 45 minutes later when the final siren went West Perth had recorded a 38-point victory and the mood amongst supporters was much more upbeat, to say the least. It was an 80-point turnaround on the back of the Falcons kicking the last 12 goals of the game. I don’t doubt that coach Bill Monaghan would love to be able to bottle that period of play to use when needed. It was a great win.

WEST Perth hosts East Perth in the first Perth derby of 2015 on Saturday with plenty at stake on Hog's Breath Café Ladies Day at HBF Arena.
West Perth and East Perth meet in the first Perth derby of 2015 at HBF Arena on Saturday with both clubs coming off a loss and both sitting on 3-3 records.
That means that there is plenty riding on the result with the winner to improve to a 4-3 record and to likely move up into the top five while the loser will slide to 3-4 and be behind the eight ball after eight rounds.

ONE of the many privileges we have as players of the West Perth Football Club is the ability to represent our supporters in one of our state's greatest rivalries.
We’ve had some great battles with East Perth in the short time I’ve been playing for the club, and it takes no more than a passing word with one of our passionate members to see how much it means to them.
Every West Perth fan remembers their first derby, the one we just got over the line, or one of the grand finals we’ve played. Most of these memories are likely from before our young team were born (maybe not Gaudy or Keuns), but I have no doubt that everyone understands the significance of these unique games.

ONE of the most significant growth areas of the West Perth Football Club in recent years has been the involvement of women in all areas and that is celebrated this Saturday at HBF Arena for Hog's Breath Café Ladies Day when the Falcons take on East Perth.
It is the second consecutive year that West Perth has celebrated Ladies Day with the support of Hog's Breath Café who is the match-day partner.
The West Perth Football Club will also be going pink for the occasion in recognition of the Breast Cancer Network Australia so it would be great to see as many supporters as possible attending HBF Arena to wear something pink.

STEVEN Browne was proud to reach 100 games with West Perth and has already played in a WAFL premiership, in the AFL and State football but he is far from content that he has achieved everything his career has to offer.
Browne played in his 100th match in last Saturday's loss to Claremont at the Showground as he booked his name on the No. 7 locker West Perth Football Club and it's another notch on a terrific career already from the 26-year-old.
Browne began his career with West Perth in 2007 playing six league matches and impressing sufficiently to get drafted by Carlton and in three years with the Blues, he played 23 AFL matches before then returning to the Falcons in 2011.

WEST Perth's continued injury troubles with key position players has opened up opportunities for others and that has seen Sam Rotham and Drew Rohde already impress, and Tyler Keitel likely to receive his opportunity to make his league debut any time now.
West Perth lost back up ruckman Seva Martin to a knee reconstruction late last year and then the loss of talls to injuries has continued with Jordan Jones, Max Alexander and Shayne Zanetti still out indefinitely but Marcus Adams a chance to return soon if he gets some good news this week.
With those players absent, there has been increased opportunities for others in the West Perth team and that has seen usual half-forward Drew Rohde have to play above his height at times as a key defender this season, and to hold his own well.
