WEST Perth's longest-serving coach Bill Monaghan discusses the Falcons' bounce back win over Peel Thunder on Good Friday and how they responded to the big loss to South Fremantle six days earlier.

Monaghan caught up with the team from WAFL World on 91.3 SportFM do discuss that and look ahead to this Saturday's clash at HBF Arena against Swan Districts.

QUESTION: You must have been happy with the response to the previous week's loss to South Fremantle?
ANSWER: It was chalk and cheese and we are feeling a lot happier now than we were this time last week. All credit to the players for that. We had a fairly light week with a bit of soul searching done and the players responded remarkably well. Our start was fantastic. We let it slip a little bit in the third quarter but finished off strongly again. I'm really proud of the way the players responded and it's great to come away from Good Friday with a win.

WEST Perth showed that a week is a long time in football when it bounced back from last week’s game to defeat last year’s premiers, Peel, at  Bendigo Bank Stadium in Mandurah.

The Falcons dominated for long periods of the game and thoroughly deserved their victory. Their use of the football and endeavour was far superior to that of the home team who did give West Perth a scare when they came back strongly in the third quarter.

WEST Perth headed to Mandurah on Good Friday on a mission of redemption and delivered in emphatic fashion beating Peel Thunder by 35 points in Shane Nelson's 100th game.

Both Peel and West Perth came into the contest on the back of two-game losing runs, but it was the Falcons with redemption on their minds especially following a 103-point loss to South Fremantle the previous Saturday.

West Perth also had the added motivation of Nelson playing his 100th game and the Falcons were remarkably dominant straight out of the blocks.

REDEMPTION is on the mind of West Perth heading to Mandurah on Good Friday both to make up for being eliminated by Peel Thunder in last year's finals and to respond to last week's disappointing showing.

Peel is making a tradition out of hosting a Good Friday clash at its Mandurah home and this year's opponent is a West Perth team who they have done battle with in each of the past two finals series.

Not only that, but neither the Thunder nor Falcons will want to rack up their third defeats of the season in Round 5 on Good Friday.

The prolific ball-winning midfielder, who is every bit as courageous as he is talented in racking up possessions, has had a stunning first 99 games with West Perth as he approaches his 100-match milestone on Good Friday against Peel Thunder at Bendigo Bank Stadium.

If you don't believe that Nelson is a remarkable ball winner, in his 96 WAFL matches for West Perth he is averaging an almost impossible to believe 29.2 possessions a game.

WEST Perth star midfielder Shane Nelson might be celebrating his 100th game with the Falcons on Good Friday but his sole focus is on helping deliver a redeeming performance against Peel Thunder.

West Perth opened the season with two solid performances in the first two games with a win over East Perth and narrow loss to Subiaco, but what happened on Saturday against South Fremantle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval left a sour taste in the mouth of everyone at the Falcons.

The 103-point defeat was West Perth's biggest in five years. That's why Nelson's focus isn’t on his 100th game this Friday, it's on helping the Falcons bounce back strongly.

Every team has a game where everything seems to go wrong and the opposition has a day out. This was the case at Fremantle Oval on Saturday when West Perth was comprehensively beaten by a red hot South Fremantle outfit. It was hard not to be impressed by the ball use of the Bulldogs mids and the marking and kicking of their key forwards. They will certainly be a major force this year. On the positive side for the Falcons the Colts recorded their third straight win under new coach, Ryan Lasscock, and the Reserves were desperately unlucky to lose by one point. They came from a six goal half time deficit to grab the lead late in the last quarter. A goal in the last minute got the Bulldogs home but the Falcons were more than competitive.

WEST Perth had a day to forget at Fremantle Community Bank Oval against South Fremantle on Saturday with a 103-point defeat after the reserves lost by a point but it was better news for the colts.

While South Fremantle recorded three strong wins over West Perth in 2016, both teams did take part in finals action last season and there was nothing to suggest what was to come on Saturday.

South Fremantle was coming off an impressive 43-point win over Peel while West Perth had lost narrowly to Subiaco last week, but what took place on Saturday put on full show just how potent the Bulldogs arsenal is when at full power.

WEST Perth looks to turnaround its recent run of form against South Fremantle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday in a twilight WAFL contest.

The Falcons take on the Bulldogs at the port with bouncedown to take place at 4.15pm.

West Perth has lost three of its last four games at Fremantle Community Bank Oval including twice in 2016 and in the qualifying final, but the Falcons have started the season with two strong performances leading to a win over East Perth and tight loss to Subiaco.
