FALCONS PREPARED FOR DANGEROUS THUNDER DESPITE ABSENTEES

Friday, September 4, 2015 - 6:31 PM - by Chris Pike

WEST Perth coach Bill Monaghan will make sure his players don't take a Peel Thunder line-up minus the majority of its Fremantle contingent lightly as the Falcons gear up to have all three of their teams playing a home final at HBF Arena on Sunday.

Outside the four walls of the club might be seeing Peel largely written off as being genuine chances to win Sunday's qualifying final against West Perth at HBF Arena with a spot in the second semi-final the following Sunday against minor premiers Subiaco up for grabs.

However, there is no complacency creeping in at West Perth despite the fact that the Falcons have their own selection dilemmas at the opposite end with close to a full list to choose from, and Shane Nelson, Kody Manning, Tyler Keitel, Joe Morrow and Laine Rasmussen right to return.

Friday, September 4, 2015 - 9:09 AM - by Luke Tedesco

SEPTEMBER is always an exciting time of year when you have qualified for finals and it has been a successful season for our club so far with all three grades qualifying.

Under Craig Thomas’ guidance, the colts had a fantastic season and will participate in a finals series for the first time in over a decade. Thommo was also awarded the WAFL Colts Coach of the Year award which is a fantastic achievement.

The integration of some of the colts players into the senior training program and reserves team throughout the year will provide huge benefit for them and the club next year. The likes of Mitch Peirce, Troy Manners, Clint Hinchcliffe and Mitch Walley all provided valuable contribution to the twos team throughout the year and we look forward to seeing them and the other graduating colts progress.

FALCONS FAIL TO HOLD OFF TIGERS

Monday, August 31, 2015 - 3:03 PM - by Darrell Kent

WEST Perth appeared to have the game under control at the 10-minute mark of the last quarter against Claremont at HBF Arena on Saturday in the final home and away game of the season. The Falcons led by 25 points but the combination of only having one fit player on the bench and a Tigers side playing for a place in the finals was too much and they were overrun.

The first quarter was a scrappy affair with both sides finding it difficult to kick goals. A number of behinds were scored but only three majors. The first went to Aidan Lynch who bounced one through at the five-minute mark. Right on the 30-minute mark Trent Manzone took possession from a throw in to slot one for the Falcons and give them a four-point quarter-time advantage; 2.4 (16) to 1.6 (12) after a scrappy opening term.

TIGERS TURN TABLES ON FALCONS WITH FAST FINISH

Sunday, August 30, 2015 - 2:32 PM - by Chris Pike

WEST Perth had a taste of its own medicine at HBF Arena on Saturday with Claremont kicking the last four goals of the game to come back from trailing by 25 points during the last quarter to record the crucial two-point victory.

By the time West Perth kicked the first two goals of the last quarter through Matt Fowler and Steve Potente, the Falcons looked set to win their 10th straight match at HBF Arena this season.

West Perth has made a habit of finishing strongly right throughout the season as well but Claremont had its finals position up for grabs, and found something in the last 20 minutes to kick the final four goals of the game to win 9.15 (69) to 10.7 (67).

ROUND 23 PREVIEW V CLAREMONT

Friday, August 28, 2015 - 5:01 PM - by Chris Pike

WEST Perth looks to remain unbeaten at home this season, to win a fourth straight match entering the finals and to deny Claremont a place in the finals when the Falcons host the Tigers at HBF Arena on Saturday.

The final home and away game of the season at HBF Arena will also see the Falcons take a commemorative grandstand photo of the Whinnen-Dempsey stand prior to the match, so to be part of history make sure you are there and get in the shot.

West Perth has won all nine of its games at HBF Arena this season on its way to a 13-6 record to now be guaranteed of a home final next Sunday against either Peel Thunder or East Perth.
