SATURDAY'S win against Peel in some of the coldest and muddiest conditions I've played in was huge for us as losses for South Fremantle and Subiaco has given us the opportunity to draw level in top position on points if we are able to get up this week.
After a disappointing display against South Fremantle a couple of rounds back we have been able to respond well with some solid performances against the Sharks and Thunder respectively. After sitting 1-4 earlier in the year I think most had ruled us out for the year but the group's ability to remain positive and stick to process has served us well and we now reaping the rewards of sticking to the process.
While everyone is a part of this I think one key element was how some may have most underestimated the importance of Shane Nelson to our team. Coming from another club I was probably one of those people but I've now marvelled at his ability to win the ball and contribute so consistently each week. With an average over 34 possessions he is flying at the moment and I look forward to him and the rest of the mids supplying us forwards with as much ball as possible in the weeks to come.

THE West Perth Football Club's Board of Directors has made the decision not to explore the possibility of changing the club's name.
The Board’s decision not to pursue the matter means the club will continue to compete in the WAFL as West Perth Football Club in 2017 and beyond.
In recent months, speculation has been rife that the club was considering changing its name. This speculation occurred following a City of Joondalup Council resolution they would only continue their $40,000 per year sponsorship if the club changed its name to better reflect its location. THE official attendance at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Saturday was 500 people. It would be fair to say that West Perth supporters made up a fair percentage of that number in what was a miserable day for football. They were rewarded for their loyalty when the Falcons turned in another strong performance to win by 44 points. In the process they held their opponents to one goal for the game and positioned themselves for a possible top two finish.

WEST Perth premiership coach Bill Monaghan discusses Saturday's 70-point win over East Fremantle that consolidates third position, and what pleased him most while looking ahead to this Saturday's clash with Peel Thunder at Bendigo Bank Stadium.
QUESTION: That was always going to be a big game with third spot up for grabs but after half-time that was as good as you've played this year?
ANSWER: I was really disappointed at half-time with the scoreline of 4.13. You always worry when you miss several easy shots and you don’t hurt the opposition on the scoreboard that it can come back and bite you on the backside. I was disappointed with the scoreline but not the way we were playing and in the second half in the end we got reward not just for how we played after half-time, but got a few back that we probably missed in the first half. I was really pleased with that.
