IT is a big day at HBF Arena on Saturday with West Perth celebrating its 1941 premiership team for Heritage Round as the Cardinals take on Old Easts with East Fremantle coming to Joondalup for a crucial contest.
West Perth and East Fremantle both suffered disappointing losses last week and while it didn’t affect their positions in the top five another loss this Saturday could.
West Perth remains in third position despite its seven-game winning run coming to an end last Saturday at the hands of South Fremantle at HBF Arena.

WEST Perth will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the 1941 premiership this Saturday at HBF Arena against East Fremantle with match day partner The Sunday Times also to make it a day to remember on Superhero Saturday.
West Perth will revert back to being the Cardinals for the day wearing jumpers commemorating the 1941 team for our very own version of Heritage Round as we take on Old Easts.
The West Perth Football Club is taking the opportunity to wear the specially designed jumpers in recognition of that triumphant 1941 team and it should be a day to remember at HBF Arena against East Fremantle.

THIS week we took a different approach with the 'In Their Words' player column by throwing 10 questions at renowned hard Kody Manning to put him on the spot and get his thoughts on a number of issues at the Falcons and get an update on his health.
Must be frustrating with the same injury keeping on bobbing up this season?
Yeah it has been really frustrating, but it was brought upon by a pretty nasty injury to my shin which happened vs Perth in Round 2. I ended up with a 15cm by 1 1/2 deep hematoma along my shin and I was unable to walk for the next two weeks so my leg got really weak. Playing at the pace I do gave me a little niggle. Read More [+]

WEST Perth premiership coach Bill Monaghan discusses Saturday's loss to South Fremantle that ended the Falcons' winning run ahead of another crucial clash this Saturday back at HBF Arena against East Fremantle.
QUESTION: You dominated the game in the second quarter but didn’t take full advantage and then things came apart a little bit after half-time?
ANSWER: I thought for a fair bit of the first half even though we were a couple down at quarter-time, it felt like a game we could have easily gone into half-time three or four goals up. But then in the first 10 or so minutes in the third quarter we were very good as well and had a couple of opportunities to kick goals, but missed and then within a blink of an eye they kicked five or six unanswered ones. That was very disappointing and that 15 or 20-minute patch was probably the difference in the game.

WEST Perth premiership defender and former captain Luke Tedesco had to work hard and wait a while to reach his 150th game and earn life membership at the Falcons, but after a career based on dedication and hard work it only adds to the legacy he will leave behind.
Tedesco made his debut for West Perth in 2007 and over his 149 games up until Round 6 this year he had become one of the Falcons most reliable, committed and important players.
He might not have had the natural talents of his good friend Andrew Strijk who is now nearing 200 games and is a premiership teammate from 2013, but Tedesco has worked as hard as anybody and been as consistent and committed to get the absolute most out of himself.

WEST Perth's seven-game winning run might have come to an end at the hands of South Fremantle at HBF Arena on Saturday but it wasn’t a total loss with Luke Tedesco receiving a call up to earn life membership by playing his 150th game.
The former captain and 2013 premiership defender got the call up to play when Laine Rasmussen failed a fitness test on Saturday morning with Tedesco celebrating his 150-game milestone at the Falcons to see him earn life membership.
The result wasn’t what he was after, though, with the Falcons unable to stretch their winning run to eight as South Fremantle came to HBF Arena and went away with the 16.6 (102) to 9.13 (67) victory.

ALL good things must come to an end and that was the case at HBF Arena on Saturday when South Fremantle was too good for the West Perth. The Bulldogs prevailed by 35 points after making the most of their scoring opportunities.
Both teams had the same number of scoring shots but the Bulldogs' use of the football and strong marking by their key forwards was the difference between the two teams.
The Falcons kicked the first major of the day courtesy of big man Mark Hamilton who marked 20 metres out. His accurate kick gave West Perth the dream start but from here it was all South Fremantle as they took control and peppered the goals.
Ben Saunders kicked two of his six goals to get the first couple for the Bulldogs. When South Fremantle second gamer Brandon Donaldson kicked his first the visitors had well and truly wrested back the advantage to lead by 13 at the 25-minute mark.

WEST Perth has won seven games in-a-row now with the two Fremantle teams the ones the Falcons are yet to topple and they get the chance next fortnight, starting Saturday at HBF Arena against the second placed South Fremantle.
West Perth's winning run has been made up of wins against every team except South Fremantle and East Fremantle with both teams coming to HBF Arena the next fortnight starting on Saturday with the Bulldogs taking on the Falcons.
The Falcons are currently the form team in the WAFL having won seven matches in succession and now another win on Saturday over the Bulldogs would see them just percentage off a top two position.

WEST Perth has won seven straight matches in the WAFL and it's no coincidence that has gone hand in hand with Shane Nelson dominating winning the ball in the midfield and Dean Munns shutting down the opposition's best player.
The Falcons had a slow start to the season winning just one of the first five matches leading into a do-or-die clash with Swan Districts back in Round 6.
Nelson came in for his first game of the year that day after a finger injury while Munns also received the call up to make his debut, and neither has looked back since and nor has West Perth as a team.
